In this project, I combined two things I love into one single joy; photography and family. I watch a boy turn into a young man, my nephew Donovan. I follow Donovan's last three freshman high school football games as he and his team mates take the field. On that field, I felt my lens become an intimate observer of the gridiron battles, freezing moments of glory and adversity into everlasting images. The collision of bodies, moments of unity on and off the field, the long sprints towards the end zone; all reveal the character and resilience of these young players. In this project I aim to depict the essence of teamwork with a hint of showing the dedication of coaches. This is the last of the Chatsworth Chancellors 2023 football season.
